We are in a hybrid learning model

Weekly message from principal pippenger

We are happy to see some of our students back in school and wrap up our first week with Cohort A.

The benefits of this model are:

  • Seeing students every day for 4 days per week with Friday being synchronized learning. This will greatly improve our ability to physically see and teach our students, every day.

  • The hybrid model will continue to keep class sizes as low as possible to facilitate social distancing.

  • Reliance on Google Meets will be greatly reduced. Students would still need to work from home for the rest of their day on Friday with teacher-assigned independent practice or lessons from their in-person learning using Google Classroom.

  • Students will receive a breakfast and lunch at school, as well as a Super Snack to take home every in school.

We are looking forward to seeing Cohort B students on January 25th! If you would like to move your child to remote learning, please contact us. Families can choose an in-person option again in Quarter 4, after spring break.

Important information for hybrid learning

Health and Safety:

Families must complete a health assessment before sending students to school each day. Do not send your child to school if they have any of these symptoms and let us know that your child is feeling ill. Please, call our attendance line to report an absence 303-326-1644.

It is critical that students are dropped off during the drop-off window (7:40-8:00) as we are only able to provide supervision and maintain a safe environment for students and staff during arrival at these times.

It is critical that students are picked up right after school so we can maintain a safe environment for students and staff.

Classroom Information:

You may notice that your child’s teacher isn’t available online as we move into hybrid learning. Your child will have plenty of facetime with their teacher, but it will be staggered so they can meet the needs of students learning both in person and at home.

What happens if someone in my child’s classroom tests positive for COVID-19?

  • We will keep the same group of peers and staff members together for the entire day as much as possible to limit exposure. If an individual in that group tests positive, our health professionals will identify who that individual has been in contact with.

  • We will notify parents as soon as possible to let them know if their children have been exposed and if they need to quarantine or isolate themselves.

    • If we determine that students or staff members have been exposed, we will ask parents to pick students up from school as quickly as possible.

  • Please know that the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 must provide a medical release or documentation of a negative test result prior to returning to school.

supply pick-up

We want to thank you for taking the time to come and pick up your student’s supplies for remote learning. If you weren’t able to make it, please know that you can still come to the school for those materials between 7:00 and 3:30 Monday-Friday. Supply pick-up will resume on January 11th.

  • Jan 25 - Cohort B students return to Hybrid Learning

  • January 22nd - Virtual Village - 7:45am

construction news:

Virginia Court is receiving a whole building remodel and three building additions, which will include six new classrooms and a new main office. The classroom additions will enhance the school’s STEM and Art programs, and add two new modernized preschool classrooms. We will have a new entrance and parking lot off Virginia Court, which will streamline traffic flow and drop off around the building.

This is a huge improvement for our school and we are excited to start the 2021-22 school year. Thank you, APS voters, for funding this remodel through the 2016 Bond. Please consider joining an APS Virtual Town Hall (see Parent Update) to learn how our school may be impacted by district changes proposed for the coming school year.

As a reminder, we are on a Construction Calendar this year so our dates may differ from the rest of the district. To account for the shorter school year, our days are 30 minutes longer.
