Hybrid Learning Information

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hybrid Learning?

Hybrid learning will have half of the students at school on alternating weeks. Students are assigned to either A weeks or B weeks. They will attend Monday-Thursday on their assigned week. During the other week they will complete learning at home. The schedule can be found below for which weeks they should come to school. All students will complete asynchronous learning on Fridays.

Why are we changing from remote learning?

Aurora Public Schools based this decision on the Decision Matrix that was developed in collaboration with the Tri-County Health Department. Locally, we are seeing lower rates of COVID-19 transmission. School and district staff have continued to prepare for a safe return to in-person learning and we are confident that all of our planning will facilitate a safe and smooth transition.

What days will my child come to school?

Hybrid learning will begin on Monday, September 13th (Preschool and Kindergarten) and Tuesday, October 13 (grades 1-5). If your child is in the A cohort they will attend on A weeks beginning October 13. If they are in the B cohort they will return for in person learning on October 19.

What will their day be like?

Students will enter the building and be asked about Covid symptoms. If they have any symptoms they will be sent home. There will be no supervision on the playground before school, therefore students will go directly to their classroom. They will wear a mask while in the building. Desks will be spaced to allow for social distancing. Hand washing and sanitizing will be scheduled. Restroom breaks will occur with their classroom to eliminate contact with other classes. Instruction will be done in the classroom through the use of Chromebooks (similar to remote learning). Lunches will be eaten in the classroom, but students will have an opportunity to go outside for recess and some specials.

What about school supplies?

Check our School Supply Page to determine what supplies are needed.

Students should bring their Chromebook and Charger to school daily.

Will my child need to wear a mask?

Yes, to remain in compliance with the Colorado State mask mandate, all students and staff will wear masks at all times in the school. Parents accompanying their child to school should also be wearing a mask to keep everyone safe.

How will students eat?

During breakfast and lunch students will be allowed to remove their mask. Meals should take no more than 15 minutes.

Will students need to stay with their cohort?

Yes, students will remain in their classroom with the same students. Staff interacting with students will be limited to a small number.

Can I change my mind about their placement?

Parents can move their child from Hybrid In-Person learning to fully remote at any time. Students who are learning remotely may have an opportunity to switch to hybrid for the third quarter.

What happens if there is a case of Covid-19?
