Dear Virginia Court Families,

New Principal Announcement

Principal Kim Pippenger will be retiring this June. After a very detailed process, Mr. Will Thompson has been named the new Principal of Virginia Court Elementary. He will begin his position in June.

We said "Good-bye" to Assistant Principal, Rachel Sellers on 3/29. Cari Roberts will be the acting Assistant Principal to support with administrative needs with Principal Kim Pippenger. Stop in to say "Hello."

CMAS Testing Updates

Students in grades 3-10 take the Colorado Measure of Academic Success (CMAS) Test. This test shows the growth that students have made based on what they are learning in school.

Students in grades 3-4-5 will begin testing on April 9th. Here’s How WE will help your child do their best:

  • Practice on the test platform
  • Teach test-taking skills
  • Provide a healthy breakfast
  • Incentives and FUN for those here on testing days

It is important that students come to school every day and on time so that they don’t miss the test.

Phones are not allowed in the test environment for the security of the testing environment. Per state policy: Students who are found with electronic devices in their possession during testing (including if they have finished testing but other students have not) or during a break may lead to the invalidation of not only their test, but to the invalidation of others’ tests as well.

Some suggestions:

  • Leave phones at home
  • Turn phones off or keep on silent and leave in backpacks
  • Teachers can collect phones and keep them locked during testing session

Tips for Success (at home):

  • Early bedtime
  • Wake up with plenty of time
  • Stay relaxed
  • Arrive at school on time every day, not just testing days

View the testing calendar.

And, of course, your child’s teacher is also available to you when they are not teaching students.

In partnership,

Kim Pippenger
Principal
